When "Bruce Almighty" trailers first started showing up, I was initially upset... I thought the movie would be a total disaster- a mockery of Christianity, and trying to live a life of faith.
Man, was I surprised. It actually turned out to be a really good, fairly deep film. No, it didn't dot all the theological i's and cross all the doctrinal t's... But still really good-made by a Christian ( David Bruce ), in fact- and a great movie for movie night discussion type things.
For a film about God, it’s refreshing to see that Bruce Almighty’s message isn’t about looking for miracles or letting a higher power solve a person’s woes. As Freeman says, “people keep looking up. That’s the problem.” The real miracle is for people to do it for themselves; no matter what the obstacles.
So now there is a new movie in the making, due to open in the summer of 2007. I always worry when when movies are a re-mix, that it will be more of the same...sort of like leftovers...they lack flavour. But the new movie " Evan Almighty ", looks hilarious and has lots of room for engagement around our life of faith.
But check out the trailer- this actually looks hilarious:
That looks hilarious!!!
I will definately be checking that out :)
