An audio/visual photo essay, the true story of one homeless artist and his attempt to live in his own way. Great photos, fascinating reflection on our culture’s fundamental inability to embrace certain kinds of difference.
Sad that in our inability to embrace difference...we snuff out a creative life, that is far more connected with its surroundings. We have alot to learn from the Brian's in this world. ( Thanks Len for the heads-up )
I watched the Video from the link on the Poasis blog and I have a question. First I want to say that I highly enjoyed it and thought it amazing, almost enviable, what he did. I think we can learn alot from Brian however; I do wonder at what point should creativity usurp the laws of the land? Creativity is something to be valued, but are there no limits in which one should be creative? Who decides when creativity should be allowed to break the law? It sounded like Brian wanted to live life by his own rules, not by rules of the context in which he lives. I don't mind if people don't want to live by the rules of the context, just don't complain when you get busted.
I have more thoughts on this but I don't think I can express them without sounding harsh and uncaring. I think this kind of art is valuable and should not be written off. It's too bad they destroyed the house but its also too bad that Brian didn't get permission first.
